Dear CODEPINKer,

The power of the people is working!

After Medea Benjamin and Ann Wright were denied entry into Canada because they had been arrested for non-violent civil disobedience, over 15,000 of you signed our petition to urge the Canadian government to stop blacklisting peacemakers. On October 23, we delivered your signatures to Canadian Consulates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York, and Washington, DC, and asked the Canadian government to stop letting the FBI and the Bush administration influence their entry policies regarding nonviolent, peaceful protesters.

As a result of our actions (photos of which can be found here), Medea Benjamin and Ann Wright were invited to speak before Canadian Parliament TODAY. We couldn't have done this without you--thank you for making our collective voice as peacemakers heard.

Yesterday, CODEPINK activist Desiree Fairooz walked up to Condi Rice during a Congressional hearing and displayed her hands covered in blood. She yelled "War Criminal" as Condi prepared to testify and was immediately dragged out of the room by the police. This triggered a violent up surge in the police who began arresting every one in Pink. Medea simply held up her fingers in a peace sign and was arrested. We have gotten under the skin of those in power and we need to continue to make our presence known. We ask you to join one of our regional peace demonstrations this Saturday, October 27, to support all those who are in the halls of congress daily, exposing the lies, greed and corruption; to stand up for your own desire for peace.

People power does make a difference.

We will be marching in 11 different cities this Saturday. Sign up to march with us by clicking on the city nearest you below:

These mobilizations will send a message to Washington loud and clear: this war is devastating our communities, ravaging our constitution, taking lives stealing the future of our children, and we want it to end NOW!

With peace and gratitude,
Dana, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Jodie, Liz, Medea, Nancy, Patricia, Rae, Samantha, and Sarah

This week's action to Stop the Next War Now

This is the last week of our October pledge drive to Stop the Next War Now.It's not to late to pledge and encourage friends and family to pledge, as well. The person who signs up the most new pledges by the end of the month wins a one-week trip to the CODEPINK house in DC! This week, we're asking you to connect with your community by carrying our Don't Bomb Iran message to one of the regional demonstrations listed above. You can download the sign here and print up sign-up sheets to collect signatures. If you can't make it to one of the regional marches on the 27th, you can stand on a street corner with our sign in solidarity. Thank you for helping us Stop the Next War Now!
