Dear CODEPINKer,

Since two of our CODEPINK stalwarts, Medea Benjamin and Ann Wright, were denied entry to Canada this month for their peaceful protests, we have been overwhelmed by the outpouring of support from our neighbors to the north.

"I am ashamed to be Canadian when I see this type of action being taken by the country I love!!! Our people do NOT support the U.S. wars, and we want to resume our traditional role as peacemakers!"

--Jo Nicholas Edmonton, Alberta, Canada

Thousands of Canadian and US citizens, horrified by the restrictions on our right to travel, have signed our Don't Blacklist Peacemakers petition. If you haven't signed or passed it on to your friends, please do so now.. We want to be able to hand over as many names as possible when we deliver the petitions to the Canadian consulates in San Francisco, Los Angeles, Chicago, New York and DC on October 23rd. If you are in any of these cities, please come join us! Email canada@codepinkalert.org if you can make it!

Just as our Canadian friends are trying to reclaim their traditional role as peacemakers, so, too, must we reclaim our tradition of harnessing the power of the grassroots to effect social change. On October 27th, CODEPINKers will participate in Regional Peace Demonstrations around the country to focus national attention on the urgency of ending the war and highlight the impact of war spending on domestic needs. We will be marching in 11 different cities:

Please join us-with your help, our collective voice will grow louder and stronger and all the more impossible for Congress to ignore.

With peace and outrage and hope,
Dana, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Jodie, Liz, Medea, Nancy, Patricia, Rae, Samantha, and Sarah

This week's action to Stop the Next War Now

Have you signed our October pledge to Stop the Next War Now? If not, please sign up now -- we will send you a simple action to do each week to prevent war with Iran.

This week, we're asking you to connect with your lawmakers:

Please call your Representatives at (202)225-3121 and urge them to sign Rep. DeFazio's letter requesting Congressional Oversight of the Administrations Plans for Iran. We need them to ask the tough questions that are not being asked and keep Bush and his cronies in check. Please circulate this action widely; remember--the person who signs up the most friends and family will win a one-week trip to the CODEPINK house in DC!
