Dear CODEPINKer,

Hasta la Vista, Karl Rove!

We have to admit, it is very gratifying to watch the Republican machine crumble. White House counselor Dan Bartlett, budget director Rob Portman, White House chief attorney Harriet Miers, Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld all resign and now political advisor and White House Chief of Staff Karl Rove (affectionately known to his friends as "Turd Blossom") bites the dust. He even made reference to us during a recent interview on Air Force One, saying the Democrats need to appeal to activists like the "Pink Ladies."

Now is the time for us Pink Ladies to step up our efforts and really clean house--we can't just sit around and wait for more Republicans to drop like flies, or wait for the Democrats to come crawling on bended knee.

We believe Attorney General Alberto Gonzales should be the next to go.CODEPINK has been a regular presence at every Gonzales hearing, demanding accountability and ethical leadership, and each Monday and Friday, we stand outside the US Department of Justice calling for his resignation (you can see a YouTube video of one of our protests here. Now, Rep. Jay Inslee (D-Wash) has introduced a resolution calling for an impeachment inquiry of Gonzales and we are happy to support this effort. Please sign our petition to impeach Gonzales here and ask your Congressperson to sign on.

We need a whole slew of Pink Ladies in DC this September to make our collective voice as loud as possible. The month will be full of powerful actions: on September 4, CODEPINK will be welcoming Congress back from their summer vacations with a message of "No More Excuses! Lead us out of Iraq NOW!"; on September 15th, we'll join a mass march on Washington, and September 17th, we'll lead a People's March through Congress.
