Dear
CODEPINKer,
Thank
you for your passion and commitment in 2007.
It's been a frustrating year in many ways, with chaos
in Pakistan, war still raging in Iraq, and the media
spinning the surge as a success--but it's been an inspiring and
galvanizing year, as well. Be sure to read CODEPINK
co-founder Medea Benjamin's "10
Good Things About 2007" to remind yourself just
how much progress we've made.
Together,
we can make 2008 even better. CODEPINK has a year of beautiful,
powerful actions planned.
We are especially excited about V to the 10th in New Orleans on
April 11-12, with a CODEPINK-initiated community project during
the proceeding week. Don't miss this chance to gather with thousands
of women to nurture and honor the women of New Orleans, learn new
activism skills, and be energized and inspired. The celebration
ends with a performance of "The Vagina
Monologues" on Saturday night with activists from across
the globe, Ellen DeGeneres, Jane Fonda, Jennifer Hudson, Oprah Winfrey,
a host of amazing musicians and more. Click
here to join us.
During
the election year, we will use our vibrant pink presence to keep
the Iraq war in the debate on the campaign trail.
We are gathering energy to mobilize in DC and our own communities
to mark the 5th anniversary of the war, March 13th through 20th.
We'll continue to organize for our tax revolt--Don't
Buy Bush's War: No War With My Money--on April 15th.
We will bring our War is notGREEN message to Earth Day and
keep it alive throughout 2008.
This
year, we'll be connecting the big dots between the failed war on
terror, our eroding civil liberties, and our ailing planet.
We'll be urging Congress to move from investigations to prosecutions.
By the end of the year, we'll have made so much progress, Medea
will have trouble choosing only 10 good things to write about!
May
this be a joyous and peaceful new year for us and the world.
Raising
our bubbly pink glasses of peace,
Dana, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Ileana,
Jodie, Medea, Nancy, Rae, and Tighe
P.S.
If you pay your phone bill to Working Assets (now CREDO) and we
hope you do, please
give 100% of your vote to CODEPINK.
P.P.S.
Check out our kicky new "I
Miss America" t-shirts, and give yourself (and your
year!) a kick-start by making coffee, not war with our
delicious new fair trade, organic roast.
Texas
Gals Sing Peace Carols all month long & protest Rove!
The
Austin CODEPINK group organized
three caroling actions in December, singing at a mall, the
annual Christmas Bazaar, and at the Capitol! They also descended
upon the Renaissance Austin Hotel to protest Karl Rove at
the Associated Republicans of Texas fundraising dinner. Several
members protested with signs in the lobby while a 30-foot
banner was launched from the 3rd floor balcony, lifted by
120 red, white & blue balloons. Immediately following
the banner launch, 400
Rovebucks
showered down from the 6th floor balcony onto the unsuspecting
Republicans and hotel guests below.

slipping of Rove.
