Dear CODEPINKer,
When Shahzad Akbar, Pakistani lawyer for drone victims, came to the US for the first-ever International Drone Summit he told the audience that when women and children in Waziristan are killed with Hellfire missiles, Pakistanis believe this is what the American people want. He challenged us to prove them wrong.
That's why we decided to organize a Peace March to Waziristan from September 21-28--which you are welcome to join.
And that's why we need you to sign this petition that we will hand-deliver to the U.S. Ambassador in Pakistan, calling for an end to the drone strikes and reparations for the innocent victims.
There are 3 ways you can help:
1. Sign the petition to the US Ambassador in Islamabad.
2. Join our Peace March or pass the info to someone who might want to come.
3. Donate to the scholarship fund for young people who want to join the Peace March.
President Obama's counterterrorism chief John Brennan calls drones surgically precise, just, ethical and wise. Drones have killed over 3,000 people in Pakistan alone, radicalizing the local population, driving people to the Taliban and increasing anti-American sentiment. It's time for the killing to end!
As I travel around the country speaking about my new book Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control, I find people who are horrified by this new method of warfare and want to do something. Now you can. Help us get to Pakistan to deliver your message of peace.
Onward towards a world free of killer drones, Medea Benjamin
