“Someday the workers will take possession of your city hall, and when we do, no child will be sacrificed on the altar of profit!”
– Mary Harris “Mother” Jones

Dear CODEPINKer,

On March 8th, International Women's Day, Women Occupy will join women across the globe to collectively rise up and put a spotlight on the need for social and economic justice.

Women Occupy is a new network initiated by CODEPINK to connect, share, learn and build to confront corporate greed and monetary inequality. For the past few weeks we have been connecting via conference call to coordinate powerful actions for International Women's Day across the Occupy movement – and we need your engagement!

Register now for our conference call, happening tomorrow, Thursday, February 9th, at 1:00 pm PT/ 4:00 pm ET to connect with women around the country and help plan for International Women's Day! You'll get a personalized call-in number by email to join the conversation!

Women have long been the prime targets of predatory bank policies and economic collapse.
Women make up 51% of the world's population but 70% of the world's poor. We perform 66% of the world's work, produce 50% of the food, but earn 10% of the income and own less than 1% of the world's property.

It's time we turned the tables and started going after the big banks! And what better suspect than the biggest of the big banks – Bank of America? Bank of America not only leads the pack in illegal foreclosure practices, faulty loans, and tax evasion, it also pillages its customers with exorbitant fees and denies them their right to free speech! Plus, as the official bank of the US military, BofA has been accused of improperly foreclosing on active-duty troops.

For ideas on how to go after Bank of America on International Women's Day, check out our Call to Action.

Already planning an International Women's Day action? Spread the word by adding your event to the Women Occupy calendar!

You can also join or start a discussion, or contribute an action idea through the online Women Occupy Forum.

And don't forget to bring your juicy action ideas to tomorrow's conference call!

Talk to you soon!

Xox,
Melanie, Jodie, Nancy M, Janet, and Rae
