Pick up your phone, from Medea Benjamin

In the past six weeks, President Obama has dragged us deeper into war by launching more than 150 airstrikes in Iraq and threatening to bomb ISIL in Syria. And Congress is going to vote (as soon as today!) on sending weapons to Syrian rebels, stoking the internal conflict in Syria even more.
US military intervention in Iraq has been part of the problem and will not be the solution. And who are these “moderate rebels” in Syria that the US plans to arm--the ones who just signed a non-aggression pact with ISIL? This mind-boggling insanity is why we’ve joined a national day of action today to flood Congress with calls stop the escalation of violence. Call Congress today and say no war on Iraq or Syria!
Call Congress by using this special number: 1-855-68 NO WAR (1-855-686-6927). This number will connect you with the Capitol Switchboard operator.
Ask for your Representative’s office. Introduce yourself as a constituent and explain that you’re opposed to the use of military force against ISIL and opposed to arming the Syrian rebels. Say that instead of rushing deeper into war, the Congressperson should promote alternative options, such as cutting off ISIL’s oil sales and stopping the flow of weapons to the region.
Call 1-855-68 NO WAR again and ask to be connected to each of your Senators’ offices!
Congress will be debating military action in Iraq and Syria at hearings with Secretaries Kerry and Hagel all week. Our DC team will be there to speak truth in a sea of lies: the American people are weary of war and we need a political solution to the ISIL crisis, not a military solution!
This weekend, we’ll take our message to NYC for the People’s Climate Convergence where we’ll be bold and pink saying WAR IS NOT GREEN! Join us! Visit www.codepink.org/ClimateMarch to RSVP for our contingent. We have new t-shirts that you don’t want to miss!!
War is so over (if you want it!),
