Young Palestinian woman Nada Elbasha from CODEPINK DC is arrested outside of the Israeli Embassy with 8 other activists

July 30, 2014

Dear Activist

Over the last few weeks CODEPINK and others across the world have been in the streets almost every day protesting the Israeli massacre in Gaza, in which over 1,400 people have been killed and thousands more injured. Our hearts break as we hear the news of each casualty, but we remain committed to raising our voices and putting our bodies on the line until the violence ends.

We've vigiled at Secretary of State John Kerry's house. We've been for blocking the Israeli Embassy entrance in DC arrested with a dramatic sit-in. We'veprotested at Israeli consulates across the world. We've done so much more, and we know you have too.

Now, we urgently need our Members of Congress and their staff to learn the truth about the brutality, human rights violations, and war crimes that Israel commits with our weapons, funding, and support. We're glad that Rep. Keith Ellison penned an op-ed in the Washington Post calling for an end to the blockade of Gaza, but most of Congress has been shamefully supportive of the Israeli assault.

Tomorrow in Washington DC, there is a Congressional briefing on Israel's violence against Palestinian civilians. Write to your Congressperson now and encourage them to attend this important briefing!

What else can we do to make sure Israel doesn’t getaway with murder? Join the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions (BDS) Movement to hold Israelaccountable for its violations of international law. Get involved with the CODEPINK BDS campaign, Stolen Beauty, calling for the boycott of Ahava cosmetics which are made using pillaged resources in a factory in an illegal West Bank settlement.

Next week CODEPINK activists will be staging Stolen Beauty Ahava boycott protests at local retailers in several cities. You can join a local action against Ahava, or organize one yourself using the resources on our site. If there are no retailers in your area that carry Ahava cosmetics, you could target a shop that carries Soda Stream, another Israeli settlement manufacturer that is subject to an international boycott campaign.

The time to take action is now. Will you join us?

For peace with justice,

Alli, Anastasia, Ashley, Ben, Colleen, Farah, Holly, Jodie, Janet, Medea, Nancy, Sophia, Tighe, and Tyra
