Thursday: Day of Action for Gaza!

CODEPINK

July 22, 2014

Dear Activists,

Thursday, July 24, is an urgent National Day of Action for Gaza. Check out these ideas for local actions, and tell Congress to call for a ceasefire now and an end to the siege of Gaza!

In the latest round of violence, 29 Israelis have been killed. Over 600 Palestinians have been killed. Instead of pushing for a ceasefire and an end to the suffocating siege of Gaza, we’ve watched in horror as the US Congress has been busy passing unanimous resolutions to support Israel and allocating even more money for the Israeli military!

Tell Congress: Call for a ceasefire now and an end to the siege of Gaza!

In Gaza, hospitals have been bombed, electricity and water has been cut off, and thousands of people have been displaced from their homes. But even before this latest attack, life in Gaza has been miserable. Over 1.5 million people have been corralled into this overpopulated small strip of land, only 140 square miles, with no control over their borders (land, sea or air). With few ways to make a living and shortages of basic goods and services, they are dependent of UN handouts to survive. There will never be peace until the siege is lifted.

Across the world in over 100 cities, thousands of people have taken to the streets for Gaza. We need action now more than ever! Please join this urgent call to stop the Israeli offensive in Gaza and end the 7-year siege that has made life in Gaza so unbearable, and contact Congress now.

With hope for justice for Palestine,

Alli, Anastasia, Ashley, Ben, Colleen, Farah, Holly, Jodie, Janet, Medea, Nancy, Sophia, Tighe, and Tyra
