Don't Let it Happen Again

June 14, 2014

Dear Peacemaker,

CODEPINK

President Obama stated that he will not send US troops to Iraq, but that he is "exploring other options." Those options clearly include air strikes, increased weapons shipments, and there are now ominous reports that the US is moving an aircraft carrier into the Persian Gulf.

Please take action: Tell President Obama: No U.S. military intervention in Iraq!

We have watched over the last 12 years how the citizens of Iraq have been terrorized, murdered and turned into refugees. Once again, we are seeing hundreds of thousands of innocent people fleeing for their lives.  A new round of US military involvement, according to Iraqi CODEPINK staffer Farah Muhsin, "will only cause more damage to the current situation by enabling a weak and incompetent government that will continue to abuse its power to abuse its people."

Please contact the president and send this alert to friends, family and colleagues. Tell him no more weapons shipments, no airstrikes, no US troops. The chaotic situation in Iraq is the direct result of the tragic US military intervention in 2003, which destabilized the region and put in power a corrupt and unrepresentative government. The people of Iraq need peace, reconciliation, development and a truly representative government, free of US and other foreign interests. And they need funds to help this latest wave of refugees.

We hope you'll join us in stopping the next US military intervention now!
