Dear CODEPINKer,

Did you watch the State of the Union address on Monday? All we can say is, thank goodness it was Bush's last. We couldn't handle another year of his lies about Iraq and the economy, his saber rattling at Iran.

One rare truthful statement on Monday night was "As Americans...we believe that the most reliable guide of our country is the collective wisdom of ordinary citizens." We know this wisdom comes from an engaged citizenry, which we have been cultivating these last 5 years with you.

We have an excellent opportunity to enrich our engagement the weekend of International Women's Day, March 8-9. CODEPINK is organizing activist trainings to empower activists with skills, community, creative ideas, and to prepare and build momentum for actions on the 5th anniversary of the war in Iraq (March 18-19). Trainings will be held in:New York City, DC, Los Angeles, the San Francisco Bay Area, Corvallis, Central Florida, and more!
Click here to register for a training camp or organize one in your area.

You can then bring your new skills and energy to DC to protest the 5th anniversary of the war! CODEPINK is hosting a day of action to Restore the Constitution on March 18—we will bring our:

Other peace organizations are sponsoring days of action from March 12-19, so please consider extending your stay and building our collective voice. For the full schedule, click here! If you can't come to DC, join or organize a "Five Years Too Many" event in your own community!

In April, continue to deepen your activist experience through the trainings, sisterhood and star-studded performances of V to the 10th in New Orleans.

In his State of the Union address, Bush also said "The strength—the secret of our strength, the miracle of America, is that our greatness lies not in our government, but in the spirit and determination of our people." Let's show him what true spirit and determination can do!

Thank you for adding energy and heart to the collective wisdom,

Dana, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Jodie, Medea, Nancy, Parisa and Rae

P.S.Some CODEPINKers are getting a jump-start on the Valentine's Day Kiss-In Counter-Recruitment Action- read about the Berkeley campaign to shut out the Marine Recruiting station here! So make (out) like a Berkeleyan and join in on our Valentine's Day Make Out Not War counter-recruitment actions! Stage a kiss-in with your sweetheart in front of a local recruitment office with the message "Don't Enlist, Stay and Kiss! That way everyone makes out."
