Dear CODEPINK Activist, First of all we are so happy to share with you that Simona Pari and Simona Torretta, Ra'ad Ali Abdul Azziz and Mahnoaz Bassam, friends from Bridge to Baghdad, kidnapped three weeks ago are free! (see the CODEPINK website for article, http://www.codepinkalert.org/) As always, we've got a lot happening that we want you to be a part of! Read on to find out what CODEPINK is doing this week and how you help. Tonight night is a very important milestone in the 2004 elections. The first Presidential debate is in Miami, Florida, the very state where the last election was stolen. In Miami, CODEPINK Florida is sponsoring a debate-watching party with the fabulous groups Billionaires for Bush and the League of Pissed off Voters. Earlier in the evening, we are co-sponsoring an anti-war protest outside the debate, where we'll be walking down U.S. 1 in a procession, holding 70 flag-draped coffins representing the U.S. soldiers who've been killed in Iraq this month. If you're in Southern Florida, please join us! For more details, check out the CODEPINK Florida page on our website. In many states the voter registration deadline is just days away, this might be the last weekend to register voters. Don't miss this opportunity to register and educate voters, EVERY VOTE WILL COUNT!!! This is also an important reminder for Absentee Voters. To find out what the deadline in your state is, see: Be sure to check out the resource page on the CODEPINK website we've created just for the 2004 elections, with tons of creative ideas and useful links for voter registration!!! peace and justice will prevail, P.S. Take a moment to congratulate yourself on a recent CODEPINK success. While many have contributed to exposing the fraud, waste and abuse of Haliburton in Iraq, you might remember that CODEPINK led the call for direct actions against war-profiteers, especially Halliburton and its subsidiary KBR. Many of you answered this call and organized protests in front of corporate offices. Houston CODEPINK was loud and present during the shareholder's meeting in May. And we kept it up in NYC during the RNC. Last week Halliburton announced possible plans to divest itself of the troublesome KBR because bad publicity has driven it share prices down. This is what needs to happen everytime a company defrauds the American people! Our actions do make a difference, even when we dress like HALLIBACON pigs! Little sows are blowing the corporate profiteers' house down. Let's keep at it. Sign the petition on line and join us as we galvanize nationwide protests in case of another stolen election. |
