CODEPINK Cost of War Caravan

Dear CODEPINKer,

Thank you to so many of you who have engaged with us this month to make visible the cost of the Iraq War and to reveal the truth about the Iraq withdrawal. Please join us for our final push as we prepare to respond to President Obama's upcoming national address on the Iraq War Tuesday, August 31st, when all eyes and ears will once again be on Iraq.

We've been working hard to counter the positive spin that the White House and the media are trying to put on the Iraq withdrawal. Since we launched our campaign a few weeks ago, we've been able to help change the national conversation about Iraq. We were the first to call the so-called withdrawal and simultaneous expansion of US military forces in Iraq an Orwellian endeavor at best and an outright lie at worst. From NPR to Salon to AOL News to Democracy Now!, many media outlets and journalists have echoed our words in the last few weeks. Foreign Policy in Focus ran this and the Washington Post just featured Five myths about the Iraq troop withdrawal.
.

We kicked off this week with a Cost of War Caravan around the streets of Los Angeles. You can join fellow peace activists and activistas for teach-ins, vigils, marches, film screenings, and more by checking out our Action Calendar. Reach out to friends to join you to watch the Obama speech together and join with us on Twitter for a #pinkparty @codepinkalert where we'll be tweeting live during the speech. With your help we can counter the White House spin on the Iraq War!

We will push our online ad campaign calling out war criminals and the cost of the war on the day of the President's speech, when Iraq will be all over the news. Click here to donate $10 and help make more of these ads happen.

During our final week of action around the Iraq debacle, we want to make sure you have all the tools you need to take action and speak out about the cost of the war:

Sign our Iraq Debacle petition to President Obama and Congress

Use our letter to the editor tool to let your community know about the cost of the Iraq War.

Join CODEPINK members and allies from peace groups across the country for events this week or organize your own!

Let your Congressmember(s) know they have bloody hands if they voted for the war.

Host a viewing party of President Obama's Iraq War address on Aug. 31st at 8 pm EST and post your event here.

See you on August 31st!
