Dear CODEPINKer,

Yesterday we delivered our 100 day report card to the White House. As we look back to the one we delivered to George Bush, we can say there has been some improvement but mostly in tone and getting along with others. We are distressed to note that in the subject of Peace, we can't even give him a passing grade. Check out our report card for Obama and let us know what grades you give his first 100 days!

  • He has fudged on the timeline of bringing the troops out of Iraq.
  • He has deployed unmanned drones into Pakistan, killing over 800 innocent civilians compared to 14 Al Qaeda leaders and creating tens of thousands of people who are angry and full of revenge against the US.
  • He has moved thousands more troops to Afghanistan against the counsel of military generals and those who live in Afghanistan.
  • The Defense budget is larger than under Bush and he is requesting an $87 billion dollar supplemental for wars after saying he didn't want to separate Iraq and Afghanistan from the regular budget.

Much as we love some of the actions he has taken domestically, we are distressed by his actions on the foreign policy front. We must say there is great room for improvement here. As peace activists we are not punitive evaluators- we seek to encourage and inspire. Instead of asking him to write 100 times on the chalk board "I will not kill innocent people", we encourage him to recite this mantra while walking his new dog, 'Bo'. Hopefully this will help him to remember his desire to "end the mindset that got us into war in the first place."

We look forward to seeing marked improvement (and more promises kept) over the next 100 days. In the meanwhile, we as activists need to amp up our pressure on the President. We at CODEPINK have created tools to help, click here to check them out. We want to gather together to educate ourselves, be inspired by new information and activated to shake Washington out of its militaristic mindset and open it to the needs for development, diplomacy and basic kindness.

Tell us what grades you have for President Obama! Click here to see what we gave him, give him your grades and let us know what YOU are going to do in the next 100 days to help raise his marks (and your own)!

To support our ongoing work in holding Obama to his promises we ask that you buy a rose today from our partner CREDO Action--we will bring the roses to the White House on Mother's Day in your honor.

To the next 100 days,
Allison, Audrey, Blaine, Dana, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Janna, Janet, Jean, Jodie, Liz, Lori, Lydia, Medea, Nancy, Pam, Paris, and Rae
