Dear CODEPINKer,

CODEPINK has been saying NO TO TORTURE from the very beginning; not only have we called for accountability for years, we even traveled to Guantanamo Bay with the mother and brother of a detainee to demand the prison's closure. This week, CODEPINK was part of a coalition that delivered 250,000 signatures to Attorney General Eric Holder demanding the appointment of a Special Prosecutor for torture, warrantless wiretapping, and other heinous crimes of the Bush Administration, and protesting the idea of amnesty for torturers.

For years, our calls for accountability have fallen on deaf ears. Nancy Pelosi says she knew nothing about torture but now that the recent bombshell accounts of US torture practices have hit the mainstream (even Republicans are using the word "torture"!) she can't deny that we need full investigation and prosecution of these crimes. We are grateful that the media is finally paying attention to this issue, but they can't do it alone-we need to push for accountability so Congress will feel pressure from all sides.

SIGN OUR PETITION TODAY to urge Pelosi to do all in her power to to ensure a speedy appointment of a special prosecutor to investigate US torture AND hold the perpetrators accountable. If we can throw billions of dollars toward bailouts for Wall Street, surely there are funds to investigate torturers and prosecute them to the full extent of the law.

Thank you for demanding that we bring the criminals, who authorized torture to justice,
Allison, Audrey, Blaine, Dana, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Janna, Janet, Jean, Jodie, Liz, Lori, Lydia, Medea, Nancy, Pam, Paris, and Rae
