Dear
CODEPINKer,
If
you could hang one banner in front of Nancy Pelosi at the upcoming
Democratic National Convention, what would
you want it to say? If you could chant one slogan at
John McCain during the Republican National Convention, what
would you want to express?
You
can help us make the peace presence at the upcoming DNC and RNC
conventions anything but conventional.
We know you're full of great ideas--thousands of you stepped
up when we asked for your thoughts about Afghanistan, and we are
so grateful for your generous insights. You can read the powerful
results of that survey here.
Now we need your help with the conventions--click
here to send us your thoughts, slogans, lyrics, visual
ideas and other creative brainstorms for CODEPINK's
contribution to the DNC and RNC. If we choose one of your ideas,
we'll send you a CODEPINK
water bottle!
We
also need your financial help to keep our message of
peace at the conventions visible and vibrant. Not only will your
donations defray the cost of our giant pink
slips and “I Miss America” banners--they will also give
local CODEPINK coordinators who cannot
afford to travel to Denver and St. Paul the opportunity to attend,
and later bring what they learned back to their own communities.
Huge
corporations have given over $100 million to fund the conventions.
These include AT&T and Comcast, which just got congressional
immunity for illegally tapping our phones; military contractors
like Lockheed Martin; and dirty energy companies like ConocoPhillips
(oil) and Xcel Energy (nuclear). Your funds
and ideas will help counter the big business influence with the
clear, honest voice of the peace movement.
Thank
you for sharing your unconventional wisdom!
Alicia,
Anne, Dana, Deidra, Desiree, Farida, Gael, Gayle, Jean, Jodie, Liz,
Lori, Medea, Nancy, Rae and Tighe
P.S.
One of our beloved local CODEPINK coordinators,
Annie Katz, passed away last month.
We are heartbroken that Annie will not be able to join us at the
DNC/RNC--she would have loved every minute, and would have brought
so much inspiration and spirit to the table. Annie's family is honoring
her memory by creating the Annie B. Katz
Creative Activist Fund, which sponsors weeklong stays
at the CODEPINK house for political
artists. To find out more about Annie and how to contribute to the
fund, please click
