Veterans Day




DID YOU KNOW? The United States Congress officially recognized the end of World War I when it passed a concurrent resolution on June 4, 1926, with these words:

Whereas the 11th of November 1918, marked the cessation of the most destructive, sanguinary, and far reaching war in human annals and the resumption by the people of the United States of peaceful relations with other nations, which we hope may never again be severed, and

Whereasit is fitting that the recurring anniversary of this date should be commemorated with thanksgiving and prayer and exercises designed to perpetuate peace through good will and mutual understanding between nations;

We made a call for CODEPINKers and supporters to observe the true meaning of Veterans Day and take action to speak out against the war!

Some ideas includes:
Making some noise- Calling local radio station and getting on the air. Talk shows are a great venue to voice opposition to the war and reach the masses.

Seal it with a click -Supporters wrote letters to local  editors. Tried and true, a letter to the editor is always an effective communication tool.
Send an e-mail to your local paper instantly:

Walk the talk - Supporters joined a local parade or memorial. We walked among the patriotic masses promoting peace in Iraq with banners & signs, and handed out candy or pink balloons. We also stuck labels with anti-war messages on our parade treats.
