Mother's Day 24 Hour Vigil Schedule


Saturday, May 13th

3 pm to 3:30 pm– Opening Rally and Kick Off!
Stage, Lafayette Park

4 pm to 5 pm – Make art not war! Aerial Image at the Ellipse
We'll walk from Lafayette Park to circle the White House in pink and arrive at the Ellipse where we will use our bodies to form a magical image designed by aerial artist John Quigley.

5 pm to 6:30 pm – Learning Circles Session I
Participate in teach-ins that will educate and inspire us to create the world we want to live in. Click here to see the full schedule of teach-ins.

6:30 pm to 6:45 pm – Dinner
Catered dinner from Bus Boys and Poets. Cost is $8. We invite you to pick up your dinner and join the next session of learning circles.

6:45 pm to 8 pm – Learning Circles Session II

8 pm to 10 pm – Evening Concert

Stage
Amazing musical performances and speakers will flood the park with song, including a special performance by Jill Sobule and her mom! Hear Patch Adams, Cindy Sheehan, conscientious objectors, and more.

10:30 pm to 1:30 am – Awakening the Dreamer, Changing the Dream Symposium by Pachamama
Dare to imagine the world you want to live in and create in this intensive multimedia workshop for activists! Meet at the stage area to walk to the workshop location.

Sunday, May 14th

2 am to 4 am – Activist Trainings
Learn valuable skills for creative protest, media outreach, local group coordinating, strategizing to end war, and more. Join Patch Adams for a workshop entitled, “What is your love strategy?” See late night schedule at right.

4 am to 7 am – Pink Pajama Party

Party will include a pink scavenger hunt, hula hooping, yoga, singing, and more!

7 am to 8 am – Walter Reed Peace Delegation

A delegation from the vigil will deliver hundreds of roses and a message of love and support to the mothers visiting their children at the military hospital.

8 am to 9 am – Free Breakfast for all-night activists

9 am to 10 am – Story circles and morning meditation

10 am to 12 pm – Interfaith Ceremony
We will honor all the mothers that have been victimized by the war in Iraq. We will sing, chant, dance and listen to women from Goddess, Buddhist, Jewish, Christian, Muslim and Unitarian traditions.

12 pm to 1 pm – Pink Picnic in the Park
Catered lunch from Bus Boys and Poets. Cost is $6. During this time, a civil disobedience training will be offered in Area 3 (see map for location).

1 pm to 3 pm – Rally and Roses

We'll end our 24-hour vigil with a fantastic rally featuring some legendary speakers, including Susan Sarandon and Cindy Sheehan and we'll turn over the torch to the Women Say Enough! Basta! Mother's Day Month women.
