Women's Peace Group To Tell Senator Feinstein to Halt Domestic Surveillance!

(San Francisco) In a creative protest, CODEPINK will return to the house of Senator Dianne Feinstein on Tuesday, February 11th at 12:00pm to surveil and monitor with toy drones, tracking devices and magnifying glasses. The demonstration coincides with a national day of action being planned in opposition to NSA spying, called “The Day We Fight Back.”

Within days after Edward Snowden the 29 year old whistleblower leaked the vast surveillance capabilities of US spy agencies, Senator Dianne Feinstein, chairwoman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, accused him of committing treason.

Senator Feinstein has known the extent of these programs for years. The U.S. government is extracting audio, video, photographs, e-mails, documents, and connection logs that enable analysts to track a person's movements and contacts over time. As a result, the contents of communications of people both abroad and in the U.S. can be swept without any suspicion of crime or association with a terrorist organization.

The CODEPINK activists call on the Senator to take immediate action to halt this surveillance and provide a full public accounting of the NSA’s and the FBI’s data collection programs. This dragnet surveillance violates the First and Fourth Amendments of the U.S. Constitution, which protect citizens’ right to speak and associate anonymously and guard against unreasonable searches and seizures that protect their right to privacy.
