CODEPINK Crashes Lavish Republican Fundraiser on Day of Government Shutdown

What: CODEPINK “Billionaires” outside of Fundraiser for Cong. Steve Chabot from Ohio

When: 5:00pm-7pm, Tuesday, October 1

Where: The Townhouse, 11 D St SE, Washington DC

Requested donation for fundraiser: $2,500

While the Republicans are shutting down the government in their effort to stop more Americans from getting healthcare, they are also making sure the dollars keep flowing to their own coffers. CODEPINK activists and allies will be in “Billionaires for Wealthcare” clothes outside the fundraiser for Congressman Steve Chabot to expose the callousness of raising campaign contributions on the very day of the government shutdown. "For the first time in 17 years, multiple government agencies and programs will shut down, forcing between 800,000 and a million federal employees out of work for an indefinite period and saddling many Americans with major delays in social and public services. Meanwhile, one thing that won't be delayed are the parties where rich people fork over big checks to politicians. No wonder Congressional approval is at an all-time low of 10 percent," says Alli McCracken of CODEPINK.
