CODEPINK Kicks off Week of Protests with Coalition Press Conference and Actions at Southern Methodist University

Dallas, Texas - CODEPINK activists and allies will use the opportunity of the opening of the new George W. Bush Library & Policy Center in Dallas to bring attention to the injustices committed by former president George W. Bush and his administration, particularly the invasion and destruction of Iraq and the use of torture directed from his office.

The People's Response Press Conference

When: 9:30 am, April 22, 2013

Where: 6116 North Central Expressway (SW corner of I-75/Central Expy & SMU Blvd.)

At this press conference CODEPINK and other activists will highlight the cost of American and Iraqi lives, wasted American tax dollars, and loss of accountability and justice. Concerned citizens from around the country will be converging on Dallas calling for justice, including Iraqis and family members of Iraq war veterans, some of whom have been injured and others who have died- both in combat and from suicide. Excellent photo opportunity.

Creative Actions with CODEPINK & allies

When: 11:30 am - 3:00 pm, April 22, 2013

Where: Southern Methodist University; for specific locations call Alli McCracken at 860 575 5692.

Members of CODEPINK and other ally organizations from all around the country will visit the Southern Methodist University campus in bright and colorful costumes to draw attention to the crimes of the Bush administration. CODEPINK activists will engage with the students through street theater, chanting and conversations about what is taking place on their campus.

Activists will visit the students' dining hall, other common areas, and will walk the path to the Bush library holding large banners and signs. There will be several different action themes with visuals excellent for photo opportunities, including street theater with the Bush administration dressed in prison costumes with the “pink posse” arresting them; “Lady Liberty”, battered by Bush's lies, and an anti-torture action.
