March 6, 2013 CODEPINK and Others Deliver Thanks to Rand Paul's Office for Filibuster on Drones, Will also visit offices of Democrats to Object to Brennan as head of CIA When: Thursday, March 7, 1pm Where: Senate Russell Building #208, Washington DC In light of Senator Rand Paul's heroic filibuster to challenge the Obama administration's drone program, CODEPINK and friends will visit Senator Rand Paul's office to give thanks and bring a “filibuster survival kit.” CODEPINK, a peace group, has been working against killer drones for several years. They are inspired by Senator Rand Paul's determination to use the CIA confirmation of John Brennan as an opportunity to get a response to the simple question, “Is it constitutional for the US government to use drones against a non-combatant US citizen in the United States?” They will also encourage the Senator to speak out more against the many non-US civilians who have been killed overseas with US drones. “We are delighted to see Rand Paul taking on the Obama administration's illegal, immoral drone program,” says CODEPINK cofounder Medea Benjamin, author of Drone Warfare: Killing by Remote Control. “We've been waiting for years for someone to step up and say no to extrajudicial killing, especially of US citizens.” After visiting Rand's office, the group will visit the offices of several key Democrats who have been supporting the President on drones and the nomination of John Brennan to head the CIA. ## |
