Gun Control Advocates Protest at DC-Area Gun Show

When: 3-5pm Friday, December 28, 2012
Where: Dulles Expo Center, 4320 Chantilly Shopping Center, Chantilly, VA 20153

In the wake of the Sandy Hook massacre, gun control advocates will be at the opening of the DC-area's largest gun show to call for gun control. They will advocate for a ban on assault weapons and for background checks on all guns sold at gun shows.

“Right now, thanks to what is known as the ‘gun show loophole,' 40% of guns sold in the US are sold without background checks and this has to stop,” says Tighe Barry of CODEPINK, who made national news by protesting inside the December 21 NRA press conference when Wayne LaPierre was speaking.

Protesters will have signs with messages such as "Ban Assault Weapons," "Close Gun Show Loophole," and "Arms are for hugging." They hope to engage attendees in a dialogue about gun control.
