Bring Home Our California National Guard!

Bringing the National Guard home is a first step and strategy for ending the war in Iraq. On September 8, 2005 Assemblywoman Loni Hancock introduced AJR36 to the California State Assembly; the Resolution calls on the Governor to seek the immediate withdrawal of all California National Guard troops from Iraq.

Success in California would be a huge win for the peace movement and a push for other states working on this campaign. Our goal is to get AJR36 voted on and adopted in the California State Legislature. Click here for a copy of AJR 36 & complete list of co-authors.

With only a short time left, we are down to the wire and need massive statewide support to pressure our Assembly people to pass the Resolution as soon as possible. You can help! Scroll down to find out what you can do. For the most up to date information, please visit www.bayareacodepink.org.

Action Alert: PLEASE join us in Sacramento on the South Steps of the Capitol Building this Wednesday, August 16th, at 1:30 pm for this important hearing if you can!  Pro-war groups will be there and we need to show them what peace looks like. Wear plain hot pink t-shirts if you can - write "Nation, Chavez: Don't Let Our Guard Down" and "AJR36 - Bring 'em home" on your shirt.  No signs allowed inside so wear the message. Our legislature is adjourning on August 31st so we do not have much time to get AJR36 passed! For more information, please email Sam at mzsam@bayareacodepink.org.

Lobby your Assembly Representative to vote yes for AJR36!
Meeting in person with your representative or someone from their staff is an important tactic in getting them on board. Download a lobbying packet here and make an appointment to see your representative as soon as possible.

Don't have time to launch a full-throttle lobbying effort on your Assemblyperson? Send them an e-mail showing support for AJR36 from constituents in their district.

The more pressure we can show from the citizens of California, the more likely we are to move our Representatives to pass it.
