CODEPINK Supports the Gaza Freedom Flotilla; Calls on Israel Government to Allow Safe Passage

CODEPINK has condemned the ongoing seize of Gaza that has led to a humanitarian crisis for the 1.5 million inhabitants and has supported international efforts to break the seize. Since the horrific Israeli military invasion of Gaza on December 22, 2009 that left over 1,400 Palestinians dead, CODEPINK has led seven delegations to Gaza via Egypt, breaking the blockade by bringing much-needed supplies and solidarity.
Now an eight-boat aid flotilla from all over the world is attempting to break the blockade by sea, bringing essential  humanitarian aid and showing that the world has not forgotten the people of Gaza.

We condemn that plans by the Israeli military to send Navy ships to intercept the aid flotilla and we are joining in international protests at Israeli embassies, calling on the Israeli government to allow the flotilla to land in Gaza.

The whole world is watching. The flotilla is carrying hundreds of non-violent peace activists and humanitarian aid workers, many of them well-known in their countries. We applaud their valiant effort and call on the Israeli government to allow them safe passage and to, once and for all, end the crippling siege that has caused such suffering for the people of Gaza.
