Ghosts of War Join White House Halloween Party
Urge President Obama to End the Wars

What: Anti-war Halloween Party at the White House
When: Saturday, October 31, 2009, 4pm-6pm
Where: Meet at Pennsylvania Ave and 17th St; march around the official White House Halloween Party

While the Obamas host a Halloween Party outside the White House for military families, peace activists will also don costumes and call on Obama to oppose the surge in Afghanistan and end the wars.

“While Obama is entertaining military families, he has been sending more of their loved ones off to an unwinnable war in Afghanistan that the American people don't support. The best treat he could give to military families on Halloween is to announce that he will not support the surge and will instead design exit strategies to bring our troops home from both Iraq and Afghanistan,” says ret. Col. Ann Wright, who just returned from Afghanistan.

The activists will be dressed as zombie soldiers, ghosts of war victims, a monstrous Obama's Afghanistein and more.

The activists will also tie their message into the health care debate that is gripping this nation. “We will be outside the White House with a Halloween message: Don't be tricked into sending more soldiers and Afghans to their death; Give a treat to the people by spending our money on healthcare, not warfare,” says CODEPINK cofounder Medea Benjamin.
