SF Chronicle
"People in the Bay Area are very sensitive to the two critical issues right now - health care and Afghanistan - and they're unhappy on both fronts," said Medea Benjamin, co-founder of the anti-war group Code Pink. "They want single-payer and they want an exit strategy."

"It would have been good for the president to hear from the Bay Area, and it would have helped to release his inner progressive," she said. "We know it's there somewhere. You just have to dig deep these days." Read more...

Belcher and his group of demonstrators will include doctors, nurses and other health reform activists. They want the federal government to allow state's to create their own single-payer system, regardless of which health plan Congress decides on. Belcher and his demonstrators will likely rub elbows with members of the female activist group Code Pink, who never miss a chance to protest. Obama ducking Code Pink?
The Examiner
I'm sure some will say that this just proves Obama's handlers won't allow anything to put him in a situation where he always looks good, and others might say it's odd that he won't sit down with a network that would actually challenge him and now he can't even face the people who elected him. But what I'm curious about is whether this is a double standard in that the left didn't like the Joe Wilson outburst but now there's going to be a Code Pink protester attempting to interrupt the president by handing him a petition.
