PRESIDENT OBAMA'S PROMISES TO KEEP
|
|
Barack
Obama has promised to:
- End the war in Iraq
- Shut Down Guantánamo
- Reject the Military Commissions Act
- Stop Torture
- Work to eliminate nuclear weapons
- Hold direct, unconditional talks with Iran.
- Abide by Senate approved international treaties.
After 8 long years of the Bush Administration's
lawless ways, we applaud Barack Obama's vows
to bring the United States back into compliance
with international law. We ourselves pledge to
hold President Obama accountable for fulfilling
his promises. These are promises to keep and we
will hold him to them! Join us in pledging to
hold Obama accountable to his promises. References: 1. "A war that should have never been

I've been against it 2002, 2003, 2004, 5, 6, 7,

to the world: America seeks a world with no nuclear
weapons. As long as nuclear weapons exist, we'll
retain a strong deterrent. But we'll make the goal
of eliminating all nuclear weapons a central element
in our nuclear policy."

"As president, I will set a new direction in
nuclear weapons policy and show the world that America
believes in its existing commitment under the nuclear
Non-Proliferation Treaty to work to ultimately eliminate
all nuclear weapons. I fully support reaffirming
this goal, as called for by George Shultz, Henry
Kissinger, William Perry, and Sam Nunn, as well
as the specific steps they propose to move us in
that direction."

"Obama supports tough, direct presidential
diplomacy with Iran without preconditions." 6. From the Obama/Biden web site http://origin.barackobama.com/issues/foreign_policy/#iran 7. It is illegal and unwise for the President
to disregard international human rights treaties
that have been ratified by the United States Senate,
including and especially the Geneva Conventions.
The Commander-in-Chief power does not allow the
President to defy those treaties.
