The REAL NEWS on McCain & Palin
  • John McCain's Foreign Policy Judgment is Questionable By Ted Galen Carpenter and Malou Innocent, CATO Institute, Originally Published August 19, 2008
A major driving force of John McCain's campaign is that he has more foreign affairs experience than Barrak Obama. But just how much does McCain know about the war in Iraq and foreign policies? Not a lot it seems.

He clearly missed the mark when he said that the war in Iraq would be short-lived and an easy victory. He also was wrong in saying US troops would be welcomed with open arms as liberators.

McaCain also mixes up basic facts, such as the start and triggers of the Sunni Awakening. During a trip to Iraq this year, he mistakenly accused Iran of supporting Sunni al-Qaeda, when in fact he should've said Shiite extremists. He repeated this faux-paus during a Senate hearing a few weeks later.

He also makes insensitive comments. His "100 years in Iraq" comments give credibility to radical Islamic allegations that the U.S. is determined to "undermine their civilizatrion and act as an imperial hegemon in their region".

How can we trust a man to run the nation, when he can not get the most basic facts straight?
  • John McCain's Serious Foreign Policy Glenn Greenwald, Salon.Com, August 26, 2008
McCain says he'll be "Hamas's worst nightmare", and will "sit the Shiites and the Sunnis down and say, 'stop the bullshit.'"

Does he really think the Israeli fight againt Hamas is our fight too? Is there even a distinction anymore? Is he delusional to think that  ending the Shiite/Sunni conflict is that simple?
  • McCain Tested on Economy Sasha Issenberg, Boston Globe, January 26, 2008
A presidential candidate that admits he is not well versed in the economy. Is this a man to be trusted during the worst economic meltdown since the Great Depression?
  • Palin is Ready? Please. Fareed Zakaria, Newsweek, September 27, 2008
