Thanks for coming to Washington D.C. for the 4th Anniversary of the Occupation of Iraq - March 16-20, 2007.   What a success!

  • Thursday, March 15:
  • 6:30 pm - 9:30 pm: Potluck and visuals making for M16!
    Come to the NEW CODEPINK house for a house warming potluck to get the tour and meet out-of-towners who are rasing a ruckus in Congress. Help make banners, visuals and signs for the March on the Pentagon this Saturday. Bring any posterboard (especially pink!) that you have for your own sign!
    Our new home is still very rough around the edges. If you can, please check out our wish list and bring along any items that will make our home more comfortable or more pink! Thanks so much.
    Time: 6:30ish - dinner, 7:30ish-9:30ish visual making. Come when you can!

  • Friday, March 16:
  • 10:30 am -4:00 pm - Cut the Purse Strings action in Congress.  Join CODEPINK for actions in and around Congress all day.  Meet at 10:30 am or 1:00 pm.  If you can't make it at either of those times, call Midge when you arrive at 202-230-7559 and she'll tell you where we are.
  • Location: Cafeteria in the basement of the Rayburn House Office Building - Independence and 1st SW.  Near the Capitol South Metro (orange/blue line).
  • 6:00-9:00 pm - Vigil at Walter Reed Military Hospital
    Money for the WOUNDED, not the war.  DC anti-war activists have been vigiling every Friday night outside of Walter Reed for two years.  Join us to create an emotional and important presence on this important weekend.
  • Location: 7150 Georgia Avenue, NW (at Horseshoe, between Dahlia and Elder)
  • 7:00 pm- Christian Peace Witness for Iraq March and Civil Disobedience.
    Join thousands of Christian lay people and clergy to voice your support for creating real security and peace in Iraq. Service at the National Cathedral and march to the White House for civil disobedience.  For schedule, registration and details, click here
  • 11 pm - Michael Franti Fundraiser for Iraq Vets Against the War 
  • Busboys and Poets, Catalyst News Network, Resistance Theater and CODEPINK present a late night Fundraiser for Iraq Veterans Against the War.  Screening of Michael Franti's film "I Know I'm Not Alone" plus a live acoustic performance by Michael Franti and friends.  Check out www.iknowimnotalone.com or www.spearheadvibrations.com.

    11:00 am - Join
    CODEPINK and Cindy Sheehan for a Women's Convergence for the March on the Pentagon
    Join tens of thousands of people from around the country to march from the Mall to the Pentagon in a mass demonstration to demand: U.S. Out of Iraq Now!  2007 is the 40th anniversary of the historic 1967 anti-war march to the Pentagon during the Vietnam War.  
  • Location: SW corner of 17th and Constitution NW, next to WWII Memorial and the Pond.  We will join the March on the Pentagon Rally at 21st and Constitution at noon.
  • 7:00 pm - Step It Up to Stop Global Warming!
    Come hear great words and music and help us launch the "Step It Up" campaign in Maryland/Virginia/DC to pressure Congress to take real action on climate change now! For speakers and performers, click here. Tickets are $10 ($5 for students) and can be bought there.

  • 12 noon: Prop-making and action scheming.  Join us for breakfast as we make props and plan actions for the upcoming week in and around Congress.

  • Monday, March 19:
    6:00-10:00 pm - Reflections in War, Visions for Peace: Artist Perspectives on Four War Years
  • Four years from the night President Bush ordered the invasion of Iraq, the public is invited to see war related works by artists who include those most affected: Iraq War veterans, military families, and Iraqi citizens.  Artists and experts form a panel exploring the historic and future significance art holds as a catalyst for change.  The night finishs with slam poets and other performances to inspire, outrage and energize.  Click here for more details.

  • Tuesday, March 20:
    8:00 pm - Equinox, Iranian New Years and the hour when the bombs started falling.
    Come attend a short candlelit ritual at Busboys and Poets to honor this moment.  Stay for an Open Mic focused on the war and the occupation from 8:30-11:00 pm.
