Iran Trip Report Back

May 19, 2009
Chicago Area CODEPINK
Chicago, IL
A few days after the Green Fest Codepink Chicago hosted a delicious potluck and guest speaker Ariel Vegosen shared about her journey to Iran.

CODEPINK women learned about Ariel's experience, the hospitality of Iranians, the amazing ancient history of Iran, and the fact that the mostly young population of Iran is hopeful for peace. The biggest take away from the evening is that our media portrays Iran as our enemy and as a nuclear threat when in fact the people of Iran are generous, kind, and looking for a future of peace.

The most important thing we can do is to find allies across political divides and not let politicians ruin our chance of creating peace. The true way we can help Iranians is to support the peace and women's rights groups on the ground. We as people on a grassroots level really can make a difference. Codepinkers left the potluck inspired and ready to continue working for peace.
