Blackwater (now known as Xe) has a training facility in northwestern Illinois. We joined several other peace groups in a conference designed to stop Blackwater, no matter what they are now calling themselves! CODEPINK co-founder Diane Wilson and Col. Ann Wright announced the Black Planet Award for Blackwater while Kathy Kelly and Jeremy Scahill keynoted the event. Morning and afternoon breakout sessions were designed to workout the next steps. We are happy to report that Chicago Area CodePINK will be participating in neighborhood canvassing as well as preparing an event with veterans. Much more to come! |
