President Obama has authorized unmanned drone attacks in Pakistan, in direct contravention of international law, and an attack in Afghanistan that resulted in the deaths of many civilians. Tell President Obama, we need a surge in Diplomacy not a Surge of Violence

In a statement to the federal court, the Obama Administration has decided to continue Bush's policy of indefinite detention at Bagram prison in Afghanistan. Also known as "the Other Gitmo," Bagram has a record of torture which precedes Abu Ghraib. In addition, several detainees have been in Bagram for more than five years without the ability to contest their detainment or stand trial. With the expansion of the war in Afghanistan and construction to expand the capacity of the prison, it seems likely the number of detainees at Bagram will only grow. Tell Obama that we elected a president who stands on principles, not piecemeal policy. Call (202) 456-1111 to tell Obama, "No More Gitmos!"

What's with the Pink Ribbons?

On January 20th, 2009, tens of thousands donned pink ribbons reading "Obama, keep your Promises for Peace." We tied the ribbon around our fingers to remind Obama of his Promises. Now, after the inauguration, the ribbon can be tied around your wrist to remind yourself to continue the work towards peace.

Send us your photos with your Promises for Peace ribbons to photos4codepink@gmail.com or upload them to our Flickr group.

Need a ribbon? You can purchase your ribbons from the CODEPINK Store.
