Travel with CODEPINK to South America!

CODEPINK

Uruguay's President Mujica

May 13, 2014

Dear Activist,

We're excited to announce that this August CODEPINK is teaming up with Task Force on the Americas to bring a delegation to Uruguay and Argentina! The trip leaders will be CODEPINK co-founders Medea Benjamin and Jodie Evans, as well as Andres Thomas Conteris of Nonviolence International.

Uruguay has inspired us with its progressive policies, including recognition for same-sex marriage, abortion rights, and the legalization of marijuana. Under President Jose Mujica (who we are trying to secure a meeting with), there has also been a focus on reducing poverty and redistributing the nation's wealth, while maintaining a positive level of growth. Our trip there will explore how Uruguay successfully implemented these policies.

The trip will also include an optional side trip to Argentina, where delegates will meet with government officials, torture survivors, and more. There will be an emphasis on learning how both Uruguay and Argentina's governments are dealing with the issue of climate change.

The trip to Uruguay will be August 11-17th and will cost $1,000 (plus international travel) and the Argentine portion will be from August 17-21 for an additional cost of $350.  If you are interested, please fill out this application.

Space is limited, and priority will be given to those who work on the issues we will be learning about. More information about the trip can be found here!

We hope you'll consider joining us!

Alli, Cayman, Janet, Jodie, Kate, Katie, Lisa, Medea, Nancy K, Nancy M, Sara, Sergei, and Tighe
