Almost 100 Days Without Food

May 5, 2014

Dear Activist,

Tuesday, May 6th will be Mohamed Soltan's 100th day on hunger strike. Mohamed is an Egyptian-American who has been in a Cairo prison for almost a year because of his participation in political demonstrations in Egypt.

Join us tomorrow, May 6, to call on the US State Department to intervene on Mohamed's behalf and to stop military aid to Egypt!

Protest in front of the US State Department (2201 C Street NW, Washington DC) on Tuesday, May 6th at  12:00pm!

The State Department should be helping Mohamed, a US citizen, but they have failed to act. Meanwhile, Secretary Kerry has called for the release of $650 million dollars of military aid to Egypt's junta, a move that Senator Patrick Leahy has called "unconscionable." Despite Egypt's violent crackdown on political dissenters, the US government continues to send Apache helicopters to the repressive military regime with our taxpayer dollars. This is an outrage and must be stopped. Join us to protest tomorrow!

Thanks for taking a stand for Mohamed,

Alli, Cayman, Kate, Medea, Sergei, and Tighe
