Sentenced to Die

Dear Peacemaker,

In a shocking move, an Egyptian court has sentenced 529 supporters of former President Mohamed Morsi to death for the killing of a single police officer. We need your help to prevent this mass slaughter from happening: Tell the Egyptian government to lift the outrageous death sentences for the 529 convicted Egyptians!

Since overthrowing the Morsi government in July 2013, the Egyptian military has killed over 1,000 people and jailed over 16,000, and is clearly targeting people based on political affiliation. Amnesty International has called this the largest group death sentence anywhere in the world in recent years.

Help us get the court ruling reversed now by sending a message to Egypt’s army chief and Defense Minister, Abdel Fattah el-Sisi.

If you’re in the DC area, join us on Thursday, March 27, at noon at the Egyptian Embassy (3521 International Court, NW DC) to protest this terrible injustice. Or, call the Embassy and leave them a message: (202) 895-5400.

Peace,
Alli, Cayman, Farah, Janet, Jodie, Kate, Lisa, Medea, Nancy, Sara, Sergei and Tighe
