Dear CODEPINKer,

We started CODEPINK in 2002 to stop Bush from invading Iraq. Once the war was underway, we shifted our focus to bringing the troops home. Now that the war is “officially” over, we want to thank everyone on our list for the many, many ways you took action to make this moment happen -- emailing, marching, vigiling, hunger striking, traveling to Iraq, bringing women from Iraq to your communities, exposing rape in the military, fighting for the rights of returning vets, rallying for care for vets with PTSD, exposing the cost of the wars, educating and inspiring one another into years of action. We are deeply grateful for your heartfelt, dedicated refusal to ignore and forget the Iraq war and the devastating impact it has had on the Iraqi people, as well as our own country. Your voice and passion for peace and justice have made an enormous difference.

Our troops may be coming home from Iraq, but the US is still deeply and tragically involved in Afghanistan, and is killing people with drones in Pakistan, Yemen and Somalia. At home, what amounts to an economic war is being waged economically on the 99%.

Your donation of $50 or more will help CODEPINK stay visible and vocal in 2012 . We couldn't have come this far without you and your tireless efforts, and we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. Now we need to expose the continued lies and violence in fresh and effective new ways.

In the coming year, we will provide critical support to the Occupy movement, especially by amplifying women's voices. We will demand accountability for both the war criminals whose lies started the war in Iraq, and the white collar criminals on Wall Street. We will work toward reducing military spending, so we can focus on rebuilding here at home.

We can't do any of this without you. Please send your year-end donation to CODEPINK today. Your donation of $50 or more will help us create a more just, peaceful, healthy, inclusive world. Won't you join us?

With deep gratitude and best wishes for a joyous new year,
Jodie, Medea, Rae and the CODEPINK Team

PS - Last week, Congress passed the National Defense Authorization Act - NDAA - to burn more of our tax money on war and weapons we don't need. It also contains provisions for indefinite detention, military trials, rendition to another country, or NO trial at all, for those identified as “Al-Qaeda “supporters.” It also allows the military to capture and detain US citizens on US soil. CODEPINK passionately opposes the NDAA. Tell Obama to veto this unjust and unconstitutional bill.
