November 15, 2011: CODEPINK Stands in Solidarity with #OWS: We need an economy that works for the 99%, a government that fights
for the 99% and our funding for security redirected from war to peace. People are finding their voice. We all need to take action. The emperor has no clothes. All OWS needs now is people. People to Occupy Everywhere!Occupy Wall Street and the solidarity actions springing up all around the country represent the rise of a resistance movement comprised of people of all ages, genders, sexual orientations and political beliefs. It has shown the dissatisfaction of the 99% with the current militaristic, capitalist system that serves the needs of the 1% at the expense of the rest of society. As we fight for a restructuring of the system as a whole, we must be conscious of the disparities that exist within the different groups composing the 99%. As such we are witnessing the rise of a struggle within the struggle to elevate the voices of those oppressed most by the system, women and people of color. With that in mind we have created this page to provide resources for women seeking to engage with the movement to demand a change in their status within the movement as well as the larger framework of societal norms.
