Cleaning House at Dennis Hastert's Office October, 2006
Chicago Area CODEPINK, together with participants from Fox Valley Citizens for Peace & Justice, West Suburban Faith Based Peace Coalition, and DeKalb Interfaith Network for Peace & Justice, "cleaned house" outside House Speaker Dennis Hastert's Batavia office. This is the beginning of a daily Housecleaning vigil to be held outside Hastert's office until the election, when it is hoped his constituents will sweep the bum out...!

 
Chicago CODEPINK Headlines Peace Contingent at Bud Billiken Parade, August 12, 2006
On a warm and sunny Saturday afternoon, Chicago Area CodePINK was joined by Vietnam Veterans Against the War and other peace groups in the Bud Billiken parade on August 12th. This parade is one of the largest in the country, so we are proud to be a part of it. Members of Chicago Area CodePINK ,Vietnam Veterans Against the War and World Can't Wait that marched as part of the peace contingent.

 
Bird-dogging Bush, July 7, 2006
George Bush came to Chicago on July 7th, so you know that Chicag Area CodePINK joined other peace groups in giving him the welcome he deserves!

 
Pride Parade, June 25, 2006
Once again, Chicago Area CodePINK was honored to march in Chicago's Pride Parade with our friends from Gay Liberation Network. We had so much fun handing out buttons and being PINK!

 
Memorial Day- Vietnam Vets Memorial
On May 29th, Vietnam Veterans Against the War (VVAW) held their annual Memorial Day observance at the Vietnam Veterans memorial at Wacker and Wabash in Chicago. It was a privelege and an honor for Chicago Area CodePINK to be asked to participate in this observance.

 
Bird Dog Rove May 20, 2006
On a chilly, very early Saturday morning, Karl Rove came to Wheaton for a fund-raiser for Peter Roskum. And you know that we were there to "greet" Rove! These are the messages that Rove was "welcomed" with:"


Mother's Day, Washington, D.C.
This was a beautiful and moving gathering of women, men and children bringing peace to the Whitehouse on Mother's Day. Julia Ward Howe's original mother's day quote rang true--"Arise then, women of this day!"

Flowers for Peace on Michigan Ave. Attached to the flowers was a reminder of the Memorial Day observance at the Vietnam Veteran's memorial as well as the Mother's Day proclamation by Julia Ward Howe

 
Mother's Day, Independence Park
Chicago Area CODEPINK and NorthWest NOW came together in Independence Park to have a vigil for peace. We read Julia Ward Howe's Mother's Day proclamation, shared "Letters to Laura" (letters written by women all over the world to Laura Bush) and remembered those affected by the Iraq war.

 
Bird Dog Hillary, April 11, 2006
On April 11, Sen Hillary Clinton (D-NY) addressed the annual dinner of The Economic Club of Chicago. You know we could not let an opportunity to birddog Hillary slip by us. We wanted to let attendees and Sen. Clinton know that the economic cost of the war and occupation in Iraq is just too high. If she is really listening to her consitiuents, she knows that we are demanding that the troops come home, now!!

 
Third Anniversary of the Occupation of Iraq, March 18, 2006
On March 18, 2006 members of Chicago Area CodePINK joined 1,000 other peace activist at a rally in Union Park and then a march down Michigan Avenue by 7,000 to protest the war and occupation in Iraq.

 
Cheney in Addison, IL March 13, 2006
Dick Cheney came to Addison, IL on March 13th, and you know Chicago Area CodePINK couldn't pass up the opportunity to air his dirty laundry! About a dozen CodePINKers, and several others, greeted Cheney as he arrived for a Peter Roskam fundraiser in Addison, IL on a very windy Monday afternoon, 3/13. Want to see his dirty laundry? International Women's Day March 8, 2006

Oak Park Peace Fair
On a fine Saturday afternoon, Chicago Area CODEPINK joined other area peace groups in the Oak Park Peace Fair at the Scoville Park in Oak Park. Sponsored by the Oak Park Coalition for Peace and Justice, the fair showed The Power of Peace!

 
Amundsen High School Counter-Recruiting Action, February 17, 2006
On a freezing cold afternoon in February, Chicago Area CODEPINK were joined by others in the counter-recruiting community for an action in front  of Amundsen High in Chicago.
